I was born in Cheshire in 1958. I completed a Foundation Course in
Art & Design at Stockport Tech before studying Ceramics with Glass at
Birmingham Polytechnic. This got me a three year contract as a Designer at
Honiton Pottery in Devon where I mainly did artwork for souvenir pottery.
I moved to Haslingden, Lancashire in order to spend time with
family whose roots go back several generations in this area. I was looking for
a job in Stoke Upon Trent but secured a post as a Craft Instructor at a local
Day Care Centre. That job evolved and I ended up generally supporting people in
Day Services. I took early retirement in 2015 and have now lived here for over
30 years.
I was always interested in art but tended towards crafts which extended into getting my house and garden as I wanted. A friend suggested that we join an art group. Pretty soon we moved up a level and joined another group at Art & Soul in Padiham where excellent tuition brought me to where I am now at with my art.
